The center-right needs a clear ideological identity. Political instability and the absence of an organized center-left have left it with the task of representing the people who believe in true democracy as well as Greece’s future in the European family.
Middle-ground Greeks, who lead their lives with honesty and integrity, elected New Democracy at the last elections and will support it in the upcoming European polls as well.
The prime minister took a stand when he challenged Golden Dawn and when he kicked cadres who represent yesteryear populism out of his party. However, other officials and cadres have been sending out a different message and believe that the party needs to lean further to the right.
Samaras is due to present his party’s list of candidates for the local and European elections soon. It is an opportunity to win back the voters that believe in Europe and in common sense by making the right choices.
