Neither the coalition parties nor the opposition can allow the sworn enemies of democracy, currently under investigation for serious offenses, to manipulate public dialogue and steer politics off course.
The country is on the brink of turning over a new page. The improvement of the economy is weakening the influence of the extremists who blame the country’s problems on democracy and its institutions. Creating chaos is their strategy for survival. But the parties that believe in democracy and in Greece’s European future cannot allow this to pass. SYRIZA is making a huge mistake by spreading conspiracy theories and allying itself with the powers of darkness. This tactic may serve its short-term agenda but there will come a time when it will pay for, and dearly.
As far as the prime minister is concerned, he sees only one way ahead: cutting off cadres who express extremist views, protecting institutions and bringing change to the political system.
