Trikala Prison inmate in failed attempt to stab guard
An inmate at Trikala Prison attempted to stab a guard with a sharp instrument, authorities revealed on Monday.
The foiled attack occurred on Friday night, when the prison guard’s colleagues intervened to prevent the Romanian inmate inflicting damage.
The incident comes only two weeks after Ilie Kareli stabbed to death a prison guard at Malandrino Prison.
Kareli died a few days later at Nigrita Prison, where it is believed that he was tortured. Eight prison guards are due to face a magistrate on Tuesday. A total of 15 officials have been charged in connection to Kareli’s death.
