The president of bunkering company Eteka SA, Giorgos Spanos, was expected to be released on bail on Wednesday after being arrested in connection to an alleged illegal fuel smuggling ring. Also expected to be bailed was an Eteka SA member of staff and a Ministry of Environment employee.

Spanos, also the president of Atromitos, was detained in February along with two ministry employees, Eteka SA members of staff, gas station owners and soccer club officials. His bail was reportedly set at 300,000 euros, while a date for his and the other defendants’ trial was still pending.
