Businessman Karouzos’s ex released on 500,000 euros’ bail
Rebecca Skaftoura, the ex-wife of businessman Yiannis Karouzos (photo), was released pending trial for tax evasion and money laundering on Tuesday after posting 500,000 euros in bail.
Skaftoura had been remanded in custody last September on accusations of helping her ex-husband, who was active in the construction industry, to evade millions of euros in taxes and launder illicit gains through real estate purchases.
Skaftoura, who was employed as a top executive at the Karouzos Group, has been banned from leaving the country and ordered to visit her local police station regularly.
