Parliament to vote on open-air market rules as vendors continue protest
Parliament is due to vote on Monday on a draft law changing regulations for open-air fruit and vegetable markets.
The proposed changes have prompted an open-ended strike by producers, who have been angered by the government’s plans.
Hundreds of Athenians queued for free fruit and vegetables on Wednesday, when producers handed out their goods in the city center.
Farmers from Crete handed out free produce at the Afidnes toll station north of Athens on Thursday.
