Six MPs resign in order to run as MEPs

Six MPs resigned on Friday so they could stand as candidates for European Parliament in the May 25 elections.

Parliamentary rules mean that MPs cannot fulfill both roles.

Manolis Kefaloyiannis and Costis Mousourlis of New Democracy, Dimitris Papadimoulis, Sofia Sakorafa and Manolis Glezos of SYRIZA, and Independent Greeks’ deputy Notis Marias were the six lawmakers who resigned.
