OPINION

Looking for managers

Greeks are set to vote for their next mayors and regional authority leaders. The days when such choices were based solely on affiliations to political parties are long gone and hopefully never to return.

What citizens need right now is candidates who will become good managers of their constituencies or regional units. Today, more than ever, Greeks are aware of how many incompetent and crooked politicians managed to build careers from such responsible posts by hiding behind pseudo-revolutionary populist rhetoric while at the same time serving vested interests and getting into bed with their cronies.

Times such as the present require people who know how life, the economy and the markets work, without being blinded by bias and fixations.

Our duty as citizens is to vote for the most practical and capable managers, not people who perform well for the cameras or those who have come out of the incubators of political parties.
