Building activity decreases by 20.7 pct in February
Building activity fell by 20.7 percent in February, compared to a year earlier, as measured by the number of permits issued, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Monday.
There was a 15.1 percent decrease in the surface built and 5.9 percent fall in volume. There was a total of 983 permits issued in February.
In the last twelve months, from March 2013 until February 2014, a total of 15,626 permits were issued. This figure corresponds to 2,913.7 thousand square meters of surface and 11,786.7 thousand meters cubed of volume.
This reflects a 24.8 percent decrease in the number of building permits, a 25.6 percent decrease in surface and a 23 percent decrease in volume, compared with the corresponding period from March 2012 to February 2013.
