Protests and tourism

The Greek capital and many other holiday destinations across the country have observed an unprecedented number of international visitors this season.

The fact that elections and other domestic affairs no longer act as deterrence for those who wish to visit Greece is a very important development.

Greece seems to have gained the reputation of being a stable and safe destination for holidaymakers across the globe.

Ideally, however, and without imposing restrictions on those wishing to organize protest rallies, the center of Athens ought to be accessible at all times, instead of being brought to a standstill whenever a handful of individuals wants to demonstrate against something.

Though this is stating the obvious as far as the majority of European Union countries are concerned, the time is nearing for it to become a reality in this country as well.
