Man arrested for selling university-grade papers on Facebook

Investigators with the Greek police’s electronic crimes squad are scouring the computer of 47-year-old man who has been arrested on suspicion of running an illegal business selling papers and essays to university students all over Greece.

According to an announcement on the police’s website on Tuesday, the 47-year-old advertised his services on Facebook, promising university-grade papers and dissertations in exchange for a fee.

Files on his home computer suggested that he acted as a go-between for at least 108 writers and 200 university students willing to pay their way to a degree by having their papers in fields as diverse as information technology, business management, history and neurology written for them.

The files also included a list of the students who availed themselves of the suspect’s services, which will be handed over to a prosecutor for further investigation.
