Bulgarian charged with people smuggling in Greece

A 49-year-old Bulgarian national faced a prosecutor in Corinth on Friday charged with attempting to smuggle 11 Afghan immigrants, aged between 16 and 18, out of the country.

Police found the migrants after stopping a truck being driven by the 49-year-old on Thursday at the Zevgolatio junction close to Corinth for a routine inspection.

The migrants, eight of whom had no official documents in their possession, were detained.
