Don’t flirt with chaos

All elections are important, but these are critical. The worst may be behind us, but the danger of a governance vacuum and chaos loom.

It is up to the voters to ensure political stability and not to trigger a new crisis by the way in which they cast their ballot. New Democracy and the other parties that are clearly pro-Europe cannot come out of this contest broken.

No one can possibly believe that an angry message from the polling station will frighten our European peers enough to meet the baseless demands being cultivated by the opposition.

There is a long way to go before Greece can say it’s out of the woods and we should remember that countries never achieve their goals when its people and politicians are not on the same page.

When this cycle of intense political rivalry comes to an end, the parties need to find a way to reach a basic understanding on the big issues: putting the country back together again and getting a debt write-off.
