Man held in Thessaly for selling books while posing as priest

A 59-year-old man in Thessaly, central Greece, was detained over the weekend on charges of posing as a priest in order to sell religious literature to unsuspecting passers-by.

Police were alerted to the alleged imposter on Saturday by locals who saw him standing in the street in priestly robes and selling religious books for 5 euros apiece.

Officers confiscated 100 euros from the alleged fraudster, a sum believed to be the proceeds from the illicit sales.
