Expert links teenager’s suicide to exam stress
An 18-year-old high school student died on Wednesday after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment block in the city of Giannitsa, northern Greece, yesterday, in an apparent suicide.
Regional police confirmed the age of the boy and the fact that he was transferred to the nearest hospital where his death was confirmed.
The head of the local branch of the National Health Operations Center (EKEPY), Tzina Leptokaridou, linked the apparent suicide to the fact that Wednesday was the first day of university entrance exams.
“Instead of going to school, he climbed to the fourth floor of a nearby building and jumped, ending his life,” she said.
