The Greek bourse’s benchmark index began the week with a slight drop, mostly on the back of Monday’s closing auctions, with traders being particularly reserved.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,262.31 points declining 0.66 percent from Friday’s 1,270.69 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 25 fell 0.56 percent to close at 408.43 points.
Only five blue chips bucked the trend, led by banks National (up 1.85 percent) and Alpha (1.40 percent). The OPAP gaming company gave up 3.47 percent as Greece’s poor result in the soccer World Cup may well harm its betting takings.
In total 52 stocks went up, 69 dropped and 21 stayed put.
Turnover came to just 88.2 million euros, down from Friday’s 148.5 million.
