China and Eurobank boost index
The Greek stock market toed the European line on Thursday, recording notable gains on favorable news such as the deals with China and Eurobank’s successful bond issue.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,286.99 points, expanding 1.31 percent from Wednesday’s 1,270.34 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 25 added 1.13 percent to close at 416.23 points.
GEK Terna (up 3.94 percent) and Mytilineos (3.86 percent) outperformed among blue chips, while OTE telecom gave up 0.86 percent.
In total 78 stocks reported gains, 55 took losses and 20 remained unchanged.
Turnover posted a significant increase, amounting to 147.2 million euros, up from Wednesday’s 113.2 million.
