Sudden rise in stock market in the last hour of trading

Friday’s June triple witching and a sudden interest expressed by foreign buyers in the week’s very last hour of trading took the Greek bourse’s benchmark above 1,300 points and its weekly gains close to 3 percent.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,305.93 points, adding 1.47 percent from Thursday’s 1,286.99 points. On a weekly basis it grew by 2.77 percent. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded by 1.67 percent to close at 423.17 points.

Alpha Bank was the day’s champion adding 4.75 percent, followed by Folli Follie (up 4.56 percent), while Intralot shed 2.36 percent.

In total 80 stocks gained, 47 declined and 21 stayed put.

Turnover reached up to 194.6 million euros, from Thursday’s 147.2 million.
