Request for dismissal of magistrates probing GD rejected

A request for the dismissal of two special magistrates, Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitripoulou, who are leading a probe into the activities of ultra nationalist party Golden Dawn was rejected by an Athens court on Tuesday.

The request was filed by party leader Nikos Michaloliakos, currently in pre-trial custody over charges of organizing and managing a criminal organization.

Tuesday’s court decision was expected to unblock proceedings in the ongoing investigation.

Golden Dawn deputy Eleni Zaroulia, also the wife of Michaloliakos, was expected to face the magistrates on Wednesday. Fellow Golden Dawn MP Costas Barbarousis was also expected to give his deposition on the same day.
