SYRIZA calls for income tax declarations deadline extension

Two SYRIZA deputies have called for a deadline extension with regard to income tax declarations for 2013. The scheduled deadline is currently June 30.

MPs Dimitris Gelalis and Efklidis Tsakalotos argue that out of 5,800,000 taxpayers across the country, 2,500,000 had yet to submit their declarations. Accountant associations were also urging the Finance Ministry to extend the deadline, citing technical difficulties on TAXIS, the country’s online state tax system.

On Tuesday the ministry issued a statement calling on tax payers to submit their declarations on time as failure to do so could lead to delays in the payment of the social dividend.
