Turk terror group tied to Athens rights committee

Greek counterterrorism officers believe a rights committee for Kurds based in Exarchia, central Athens, has been a cover for the outlawed leftist Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP-C), Kathimerini has learned.

Three Turks believed to be DHKP-C members were arrested in Exarchia on Friday and are to face a court on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos this Friday.

The suspects – a 40-year-old man identified as Serif Turune and two women, aged 24 and 48, identified as Harika K and Fadik A – have been linked to the interception last July of a dinghy containing military-grade weapons and explosives off the island of Chios, near Lesvos.

Turune is believed to have been leading the so-called Solidarity Committee for Political Prisoners in Turkey and Kurdistan.
