Athens police crack prostitution ring following 5 arrests

Police in Athens said on Wednesday that they had cracked a prostitution racket following the arrest of three suspects believed to have played a leading role in the organization – two Greeks and one Romanian national – and two of the women believed to have worked as sex workers, a Russian and a Romanian woman.

Police raided the suspects’ homes, confiscating nearly 5,000 euros in cash as well as guns.

Authorities are also seeking a 37-year-old Greek woman believed to have been second-in-command in the racket; she is believed to have helped the ring leader, one of the two Greek detainees, to select the sex workers and to have arranged appointments.
