Police arrest pawn shop robber in Thessaloniki

A 27-year-old man who held up a pawn shop in central Thessaloniki Thursday was arrested by police shortly after a passer-by chased and managed to corner him a short distance from the store.

The suspect and an accomplice fled with 14,000 euros, according to the pawn shop owner, who said the robbers beat her son before fleeing.

A passer-by who saw the pair running from the store chased them and cornered the 27-year-old while the second suspect escaped.

A police search on the home of the 27-year-old found a starter gun and ammunition along with two cannabis trees.
