Athens woman arrested for blackmailing doctor
A 60-year-old woman has been arrested in Athens on suspicion of blackmailing her doctor, police said on Friday.
The woman is alleged to have demanded 20,000 euros in cash from the doctor in March when he was unable to cure her of an unspecified ailment.
The woman is said to have threatened to tell the media about the unsuccessful treatment if the doctor did not pay her the money.
However, in June the woman allegedly demanded another 20,000 euros so she could travel abroad for treatment.
At that point, the doctor informed the police and the woman was arrested after accepting the money in marked banknotes.
