Prosecutor proposes release of ex-Golden Dawn MP

A prosecutor on Thursday proposed the conditional release of former Golden Dawn deputy Stathis Boukouras (photo), who has served six months in pretrial detention on charges of running a criminal organization.

The prosecutor proposed to a judicial council that Boukouras, who quit the party in March and now stands as an independent in Parliament, be freed on the condition that he post 20,000 euros in bail and be banned from leaving the country.

In a related development, an appeal by GD deputy Panayiotis Iliopoulos for conditional release from custody was rejected.
