PASOK seeks debate, vote on anti-racist bill in summer Parl’t session

PASOK, the junior coalition partner, on Friday requested a debate and vote in Parliament’s summer session on a much-delayed bill aimed at curbing racist attacks.

PASOK’s request was submitted to Parliament Speaker Vangelis Meimarakis jointly by the party secretary Panagiotis Rigas and by Costas Triantafyllos who is PASOK’s representative on matters that come under the remit of the Justice Ministry.

The letter sent to Meimarakais notes that the completion of a discussion, and vote, on the anti-racism bill has been pending for several months. PASOK asked Meimarakis to give the go-ahead for a discussion of the bill to begin when Parliament’s summer session next convenes.
