Aghan worker claims police intimidation after he demanded backpay

Two police officers have been suspended following a complaint by a 30-year-old Afghan national that he was brutalized after demanding that his employer in Anavryta, eastern Attica, pay him 23,900 euros owed in wages.

The Afghan man told investigators that one of the officers arrested, aged 49, was friends with his employer and had tried to intimidate him earlier in the month to leave his job without pay.

He said the officer came back when he continued to stand up to his employer.

This time, he said, the officer hit him and destroyed his belongings.

The other officer, aged 25, was present during the attack, according to the report.

Neither of the two visits to the business had been logged with the officer’s precinct.
