Education needs skills
The Education Ministry has been somewhat unfortunate over the past two years.
Other than the myriad problems they have already faced, the politicians who have been appointed to run it continue to shy away from implementing an ambitious reform program that was approved by Parliament with overwhelming support last year and is aimed at a complete overhaul of the system.
The only thing that these politicians seem interesting in is defending the vested interests that have taken root in the country’s tertiary education institutions and pulling strings to accommodate their cronies.
What they completely fail to realize is that education is a national matter and their negligence comes at a price. Already we are paying for the dead end at which the education system finds itself and it is about time that a minister with gumption and the vision to implement the reforms needed is appointed to the post.
The circumstances demand nothing less than the best.
