Five suspects’ homes raided as part of child porn crackdown

The homes of five men were searched as a result of a large police operation against child pornography, authorities said on Monday.

The searches, four of which were in Athens and one in Thessaloniki, led to a 43-year-old man from the capital being arrested.

Charges are due to be leveled against the other four suspects.

This follows an operation codenamed “Zeppelin” that was launched by the police’s Cyber Crimes unit.

The results, which allegedly showed that the men were trading in indecent images of children, were passed to the prosecutor’s office in Athens.

Also on Monday, a 60-year-old man was arrested in Filippiada, northwestern Greece, after pornographic images of children were found at his home.

Police seized one computer and seven hard drives. Officers said the suspect tried to attack them with an agricultural tool when they arrested him.
