Man rescued after van plunges into culvert
A 40-year-old laborer was successfully rescued Wednesday after becoming trapped in a culvert on Salamina, a small island off the coast of Piraeus.
The unnamed Albanian national was backing his van toward the entrance of the drainage ditch in order to dump a load of construction waste when the ground gave way and the van slid into the opening.
Rescue workers said he only suffered minor cuts and bruises.
