New NSRF eyes niches of world market

It is hoped that the “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation” program, part of the new European Union-subsidized National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) for the 2014-20 period, will make a major contribution to the revamping of the Greek economy.

The program, budgeted at 3.6 billion euros, will focus on strategic sectors such as agricultural production, the food industry, energy, logistics, the cultural and creative domains, the environment, tourism, information technology and communications, health and construction. However, the businesses that will be subsidized in the program will be selected on the basis of characteristics that serve a new development model. These include an outward-looking attitude, innovation and creativity, the existence of a critical size as regards turnover, and an adequate range of products targeting niche segments of the global market.
