Greece’s PPC launches probe into death of power plant worker
The Public Power Corporation (PPC) on Monday announced the creation of a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 42-year-old worker who was electrocuted at the power board’s Megalopolis plant on Sunday afternoon.
The employee, an electrician by trade and senior unionist, was trying to repair an earth-moving machine at the plant’s quarry when he suffered a fatal electric shock, according to police.
According to PPC, the quarry at the Megalopolis plant was recently certified as meeting minimum health and safety standards.
