Police detain suspects over Kardamyli double murder [Update]

Police investigating the murder of two men whose bodies were found dumped on Monday night in a ravine on the outskirts of Kalamata in the Peloponnese said on Wednesday that they had detained several suspects in connection with the killings which are believed to have been a settling of accounts.

The victims, aged 25 and 26, went missing after leaving a bar in Kardamyli on Monday night. They told friends they were going to meet someone but did not give any more details.

Sources said police were still seeking the motorcycle the two men were seen riding earlier on Monday.

Police managed to find their bodies by tracking their mobile phones. Officers believe the men, whose bodies bore a large number of gunshot wounds, were not killed at the spot where they were found.
