Detained GD deputies granted permission to attend swearing in ceremonies

Detained Golden Dawn deputies Ilias Kasidiaris, Panagiotis Iliopoulos and Nikos Kouzilos have been granted special permission by a prosecutor in order to attend swearing in ceremonies scheduled to take place on Friday and Sunday.

Kasidiaris is expected to be sworn in as a City of Athens municipal councilor on Friday, the same day that Iliopoulos will be sworn in as a regional councilor in Thessaly, central Athens. On Sunday, Kouzilos will be sworn in as a municipal councilor in the port city of Piraeus.

All three are being held in pre-trial custody over charges that include membership of a criminal organization following a large-scale probe into the ultra nationalist party’s alleged criminal activities.

Meanwhile, an anti-racism rally is expected to take place on Korai Square in central Athens, at noon on Sunday.
