Acclaimed art restorer Tasos Margaritof dies at age 90
Greece’s first ever certified art restorer and conservationist, Tasos Margaritof, died on Saturday after a brief illness at a hospital in Volos, central Greece.
He was 90 years old.
Margaritof was born in Athens in 1925 and became a legend in his field, handling countless masterpieces in Greece, the Middle East and Italy. He also supervised the restoration of the famed Akrotiri frescoes on Santorini in 1967.
