Helexpo sell-off plan to be ready by mid-October
Helexpo, the state company that organizes major exhibitions such as the Thessaloniki International Fair, is in the last stages of drawing up its privatization plan.
Sources say that the proposal – to be ready within a month and a half – will present two alternative scenarios.
The first scenario concerns attracting a strategic investor from abroad to participate in the company, while the second involves finding international partners for each of its thematic exhibitions and events.
The same sources add that Helexpo’s management is in favor of the state holding on to the company’s real estate property and that it has not yet decided on the size of the stake to be offered to a possible strategic investor.
Helexpo’s privatization has been examined several times in the past, but the conditions are now seen as ripe. That is because the participation of a foreign investor is expected to contribute to reinstating the international character of the Thessaloniki International Fair and restoring its past prestige, as well as adding to its commercial profile so that it is on an equal level with similar events held in other countries.
