Nikos Nioplias returns to coaching as Atromitos manager

Former Panathinaikos and Cyprus manager Nikos Nioplias has been appointed at the helm of Atromitos, following the departure of Portuguese Ricardo Sa Pinto last week.

Nioplias, also a former under-19 and under-21 coach for Greece, had not managed any teams since leaving the national team of Cyprus two years ago.

As for Levadiakos, that saw coach Savvas Pantelidis resign over the weekend, it has hired Akis Mantzios, the cousin of its star striker Vangelis Mantzios.

The Greek federation is still looking for a coach for the national team, after Claudio Ranieri left late last year, with reports saying that Uruguayan Sergio Marcarian and Georgian Temuri Ketsbaia are among the favorites for the post.

It is also said the federation will announce its appointee this Thursday, given that it is only a few weeks to go until Greece’s next Euro 2016 qualifier at Hungary in late March.

In the game that ended the 23rd round of games in the Super League on Monday, Kalloni drew 2-2 with Xanthi on Lesvos.
