Plaka Bridge to be rebuilt
The reconstruction of a 19th-century bridge in Tzoumerka, northwestern Greece, which collapsed in February due to heavy flooding, should be able to get under way soon, a Culture Ministry official said Wednesday.
The effort to rebuild the Plaka Bridge, which spanned the Arachthos River, is to be overseen by the regional authority of Epirus, an expert committee and a nongovernmental organization which is to coordinate private donations, according to Alternate Culture Minister Tassos Kourakis.
Professors and students from the National Technical University of Athens are also to contribute by presenting studies on how the bridge should be rebuilt in early July, Kourakis said.
