Dangerous weaknesses

The Greek government appears to have lost control of the situation that it finds itself in. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras seems unable to take the kind of clear decisions that the country is crying out for at such a crucial moment. He is being crushed between powerful personalities, factions within his leftist party and the country’s partners and creditors. Trust between all these actors in the Greek drama has now been seriously damaged.

In these circumstances, a leader who lacks the ability to take crucial decisions is particularly dangerous for the country and its people. Looking for an escape from this situation by calling a referendum on the instititions’ bailout proposals turned out to be a disastrous move for the country.

It is inconceivable that the Greek people should be led to a disaster on a grand scale by such weaknesses within the group of people whose task it is to run the country.
