Rights body fears violations after Greek vote

The Hellenic League for Human Rights on Friday expressed concern about the climate of polarization that has developed in the countdown to Sunday’s referendum on the proposals by Greece’s creditors which, it said, “is being conducted under rushed and pressurized circumstances.”
It also expressed concern as regards citizens’ rights after the referendum “irrespective of its outcome.”
The HLHR said it was “disappointing” that Greece’s creditors had failed to safeguard “international guarantees for the protection of social and economic rights” and blamed successive Greek governments for adopting measures that restricted the guarantees and rights of Greek citizens.
