Fate of Patroklos islet in the hands of the Council of State

The heirs of Constantinos Giatrakos, who acquired the Patroklos islet off the Attica coast over half a century ago, are resorting to the law and seeking damages of about 400 million euros from the state, as they claim that the state has prevented the island’s sale of the island on the grounds that antiquities were found on it.

The owners will ask the Council of State to rule on the 2014 ministerial decision that forbids the sale of any private island with confirmed antiquities, arguing that it violates their rights to their property and seeking damages close to the market value of their asset.
