Man hold up bank with threat of hand grenade
A man on Tuesday held up a branch of Piraeus Bank in Pefki, a northern suburb of Athens, by claiming that he was armed with a hand grenade that he would set off unless cashiers gave him money.
The staff gave him an undetermined sum and he fled without causing any injuries. It remained unclear whether he had actually been armed with a hand grenade or had simply claimed to have one.
A similar incident occurred in a bank in Melissia, also north of Athens, in April.
