The Appeals Committee of the Hellenic Football Federation has sent Kerkyra to the second division, opening the way for the reinstatement of Levadiakos in the Super League on Friday.

The Corfu club was found by the Professional Sports Committee to have committed irregularities in the change of ownership and had its license to play in the Super League revoked. However the Super League decided to reject the decision of the Professional Sports Committee, to the committee’s dismay as well as of the Alternate Minister for Sports Giorgos Kontonis.

Levadiakos and Apollon Smyrnis, that hoped to fill Kerkyra’s spot in the Super League, appealed to the federation and it decided on Friday to relegate Kerkyra in an unequivocal and irrevocable decision.

The verdict means that Levadiakos stands to benefit, although Apollon, that finished third in the Football League, intends to challenge that in the hope that it gets to take Kerkyra’s place in the top flight instead.
