Thunderstorms likely over weekend
The weather is to change in many parts of Greece from Saturday, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), which forecast thunderstorms for central and eastern Macedonia, Thessaly, the islands of the Sporades as well as Thrace, northern Evia and parts of the eastern mainland.
In some parts, the storms are likely to be accompanied by strong winds and hail, EMY said.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection advised regional and local authorities to be on standby and called on motorists to avoid traveling during the storms.
