PASOK rules out cooperating with Papandreou party

TAGS: Politics

PASOK said Thursday it will not be cooperating with the Movement of Democratic Socialists (KIDISO) established by former Prime Minister George Papandreou in January.

There had been a discussion between the two parties over the last few days about having candidates run on a joint ticket but PASOK said that the terms set out by Papandreou’s party were unrealistic.

Kathimerini understands that KIDISO wanted members of the two parties to decide which candidates should run in the elections, which PASOK felt was unfair to its MPs, who were elected just seven months ago.

A number of top PASOK officials had made it known to party leader Fofi Gennimata that they were against the idea of cooperating with KIDISO.
