ADEDY complains about party references to public sector workers

Civil servants union ADEDY complained Friday about parties referring to public sector workers in their campaigns.

ADEDY claimed that civil servants have been portrayed as “useless” and too many in number during the campaign, although the union did not clarify who had made such references.

According to the most recent figures on the number of public servants in Greece, there were 572,546 civil servants employed in May compared to 576,856 at the end of 2014.

This number, however, does not include the 7,000 rehires that the government legislated earlier this year.
