Greeks land silver in world rowing champs

Katerina Nikolaidou and Sofia Asoumanaki earned Greece a silver medal in the World Rowing Championships as they finished second in the double sculls final in France on Sunday.

The Greek pair, that had finished first in one of the semifinals on Saturday, had a great finish to final as they rose from the fourth spot 500 meters from the finish line to second in the end. New Zealand finished first with Germany in third.

Nikolaidou and Asoumanaki have also earned themselves a ticket to the 2016 Olympics in Rio, as has the men’s national team in the coxless four event.
