September snap elections to cost Greece 33.2 mln, less than in January

Sunday’s snap elections will cost 33.2 million euros, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

According to the ministry, this is substantially less than the 51.1 million euros of taxpayers’ money spent on the early elections in January but more than the 26.7 million that the July referendum cost.

Civil servants’ compensation makes up the bulk of the cost, according to the ministry. Of the 33.2 million euros to be paid for Sunday’s vote, some 27 million euros will be spent on wages.
