Monitoring authorities will be targeting bank accounts with deposits of more than 100,000 or 200,000 euros. In the next few days the order will be forwarded to the credit institutions by Alternate Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis, asking them to probe bank accounts going back an entire decade.

According to sources, the ministry will ask banks to hand over details concerning accounts with deposits of at least 100,000 or 200,000 euros, with Alexiadis set to ask the inspecting authorities to begin their work immediately.

Bank officials say they are able to provide details dating back 10 years. They also note that in recent days they have started discussing the form in which the data will be forwarded to be usable, meaning it will have to be compatible with the Taxis system for the crosschecking to be carried out.
