Nine arrested over firebomb attack on Athens police precinct

Police arrested nine people late on Thursday after a crowd of around 150 suspected anarchists hurled firebombs at the police precinct of Exarchia, near central Athens.

The assailants lobbed dozens of firebombs at the precinct but were pushed back by members of the force's Delta unit, which fights crime in central Athens.

The attacks occurred late on Thursday following an anti-racist rally in nearby Kaningos Square and, in the scuffles that ensued, a police officer broke his arm.
